Hallberg

In the 1990’s, Sebastopol was a town full of aging Gravenstein apple orchards. Our favorite autumn activity was to stop at the Hallberg Apple Orchard and stock up on freshly squeezed apple juice. But the apple market had migrated to Washington State and beyond and the time had come for something new. The time had come for Pinot Noir. goldridgepinot now resides on this very spot.

Wanting to expand our wine selection, goldridgepinot offered us the opportunity to purchase grapes from the vineyard that replaced our favorite haunt, now known as Hallberg Vineyard. The first vintages of Dijon clones 115 and 777 were used in our Three Sons Cuvee, a blend of several vineyards in Sebastopol. In working with these grapes over several vintages, we became convinced that they displayed a character worthy of expressing in a vineyard designated wine. In 2006 we will be adding this single vineyard designate from Sebastopol to our family of wines.

Hallberg Vineyard represents a full circle for us, continuing to purchase and enjoy the product of this extraordinary property into the next generation.
