Back in the day, wearing Vuarnets described a person's taste and status. Many have entered this space: Maui Jim, Oakley, Rayban, Persol, Carrera, and the list goes on. What held Vaurnet up was not only style, but durability. They were almost bullet-proof. They resisted scratches or breaking, despite rugged treatment. I recently trashed a pair of expensive Maui Jim's by packing them in a suitcase.
I was introduced to Sutro by Jay Holland, the artisan behind our luggage line. His family created Mulholland. Jay and I share recognition of fine craftsmanship. When I started wearing my first pair of Sutro Guerreras, I realized I had another icon in style and function.
The look is distinctive and sophisticated, the stainless steel ratcheted hinges are warrantied for life, and the thin tempered glass lenses are shatterproof, crystal clear and scratch resistant.
Selling sunglasses is an odd business for a winemaker. I do not see these as sunglasses or limit myself to wine making. These glasses are a quality product.
